Who We Are

MISSION STATEMENT
JUSTICE FOR JUNIORS, under the Inter-University Chaplaincy Social Justice Service, IUCSJS, is dedicated to addressing juvenile recidivism in the District of Columbia by offering mentoring, tutorial visitation services to juveniles returning to the community, in subjects such as ethics, education, and faith. We hope to lay a foundation for disadvantaged youth to gain the skills, hope, and sense of community needed to live a life without crime.

VISION
Considering the cultural and socio-economic context of at-risk youths in DCPS, our approach is inter-disciplinary: academic subject instruction, the value of faith/religious    traditions, personal worldview, and the contribution of economics, sociology, and human rights.
Any college student who expresses an interest to tutor or mentor is eligible.  However, teaching and mentoring predominantly urban minority students is expected to be a learning experience for volunteer college student tutors and mentors, particularly understanding the history and varied traditions of urban minorities and how the Black Church tradition, contemporary hip hop music, and economics influence the ethics of juveniles.
